The Aerials Series reflect the artist's fascination with the aerial views of farmlands as seen during the many flights taken between San Francisco and New Orleans. As many who fly may have noticed, there is an incredible array of geometric shapes cut into the agricultural landscapes, often displayed in a beautiful quilt-like pattern. Ehlenberger took these shapes to a simplified abstraction in this small group of works. In a more direct translation of imagery, Ehlenberger also completed a series of aerials, "Greenville Aerial Series."
