As a photographer, the task I have is to use the photograph to again interpret these elements of form, color, texture and luminosity in such a way as to offer a visual experience the viewer can interpret in some positive or rewarding way. A camera is a tool that offers an image essentially of what the viewer sees. As such, the advantage the photograph has is that it contains the original information that the artist's eye has seen. However it is manipulated, it still retains some basic elements the original image possessed. I present my work including the original photograph in such a way as to allow the viewer to see where -if not always how- the original image was altered to enhance my chosen elements. By doing this I offer the viewer a way to see their own world of images as an interaction of forms and shapes. By starting with everyday, common images, I offer the viewer an optional way of seeing the world around them and appreciate the relationships of these four elements in their own lives. Last but not least, I think my photography provides clues as to where my sculpture is derived. Containing the same elements, my luminous three dimensional forms are actually amplifications and derivations of the images in my own world.
