The metal bases are designed to hold up to 5 pyrex housings for the wireless neon tubes and allow for display of single or multiple components including "Stalaglites," "Venusian Clamora" and "Venusian Swamp Flowers," (see examples below). Each component is easily assembled without tools or the need for wiring (aside from plugging in the power cord!). This allows for the ability to change the composition of the works easily as well as for ease in shipping.
